Russell Wiseman bought A56734 and AL56043 in the mid 1990's and began to overhaul these Ex Auckland subbies in the old Feilding Freezing Works yard. This work mainly consisted of sandblasing the underframes and dent and rust repairs to panels.

New panels 12th Febuary 2005
This AL carvan has had a lot of work done on it too. The interior has been tidied up, although not refurbished. The exterior has had many new panels fitted. Here you can see Peter Hammond fitting the tail lights back on the carriage after the new curved panels had been fitted.
Removing the bearing cover plate 8th January 2005
The axles on all carriages must be crack tested. In order for this the bearing covers must be removed. To prevent dust getting into the bearings, the covers were only taken off just prior to the actual ultrasonic test.
Grinding December 2003
Peter preparing the carriage to have a new body knee welded into place.
Fitting of spark guards 2nd August 2003
Keith fitting steel sheet to the underside of the carriage. These stop sparks from the brakes coming in contact with the wooden surfaces of the carriage.

Side Panels Removed Work Week - March 2003
The AL56043 with it's side panels removed to assess corrosion.
Lighting Repairs Work Week - March 2003
The lights worked after replacing a few tubes. But the charging system may be a lot harder to get operating.
Carriage Wall Repairs 30th October 2002
A new beam was manufactured locally to replace the rotten one above.
Rebuilding the Carriages 15th June 2002
First priority it to fix the two ex-Auckland Subbie Cars that Russell brought back in the mid 1990's. These cars have been leaking and need a bit of wood and steel replaced.
